SMOOTHIES for days

So after my constant snaps of my daily smoothies via SnapChat: lovesian .. You guys sent soooo many requests asking me what I put in them & why? So I finally got round to doing this post.. All about – yup you guessed it SMOOTHIES!

Some of my favourite recipes:

Creamy Tropical Blend:

  • 1 avocado
  • 1 handful of frozen pineapple
  • 1 handful of frozen mango
  • Coconut Milk

Protein Smoothie:

  • 1 scoop of banana protein powder
  • 1 table spoon of crunchy peanut butter
  • 1 handful of spinach
  • Almond Milk

  • 1 handful of spinach or curly kale
  • 1 table spoon of greens powder
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 thumbs length of cucumber
  • Coconut Milk
  • 1 tea spoon of honey

The Skin Booster:

  • 1 table spoon of RAW cacao powder
  • 1 tea spoon of green boost powder
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 table spoon chia seeds
  • 1 handful spinach
  • Coconut Milk
  • 1 teaspoon honey

I love going to the gym doing a ‘fasted workout’ – so basically not eating beforehand, especially because I find I get stitch a lot of the time (if I eat before), however I do lack in energy.. so I started having a morning smoothie pre-gym, I avoid anything too heavy, & find it digests quicker than any other breakfast alternatives

  • Great time to add your favourite fruits in, getting a pre-workout buzz from all the fructose!
  • You can always add a spoonful of COCONUT OIL for an extra energy boost- eeeek Sian’s telling us to put fat/oil in a smoothie? YES –¬†Coconut oil is structured with medium chain fatty acids, also known as medium chain triglycerides, which are now known to speed up the metabolism process and can lower the risk of both atherosclerosis and heart disease!

  • Try not to over do it with the fruit- it still has a lot of sugars, and if you are purely trying to get some extra nutrients in, you don’t need to go overboard on the fruits
  • Try add in as many dark green veggies as possible, they don’t taste so bad all blended up- I promise! Packed full of anti-oxidants & iron, they will do you the world of good!
  • If you need to sweeten your smoothies- use honey or fruit instead of other processed or re-fined sugar alternatives, your body digests & uses everything better in its natural state
  • If you find your diet is lacking in a certain area due to a busy lifestyle- adding supplements into your smoothies to try and compensate is a great option. For example immune boosters etc.

  • Sounds simple- BUT don’t forget to wash your fruit and veg, imagine you upping your intake of these everyday, but getting pesticides & all sorts along with it! or even better, go organic.
  • By powdered supplements- I will always stand by fresh is best, but realistically fresh fruit and veg goes off so quick, and having a couple powdered supplements can help out a lot !
  • Use superfoods – such as acai, spinach, flaxseed, blueberries, cacao powder, chai seeds, they have so many health benefits, so do a little research on what could work well for you.

This post had my mouth watering! I absolutely LOVE smoothies… I could easily go overboard on them! Haha. I’ve been eating clean for a bit over a week (you can read about why on my blog) and I LOVE how it’s making me feel!! It’s made such a difference in my life.
